Q: How do I get my 'arms in sync'?

Q: How do I replace a tarp?

A: How do I get my 'arms in sync'?

The reason the arms are out of sync when you receive the truck is due to air being left in the hose connecting the driver's side cylinder to the passenger's side cylinder.

Arms get out of sync after you use the truck for a while. It happens when air gets into the hose due to a loose fitting, a hole in the hose or the hydraulic fluid has not circulated throughout the system. If a hole is in the hose, replace the hose.

Getting the air out of the hose requires 'rephasing'. Rephasing is accomplished by doing the following:

  1. Retract the lower cylinders completely.
  2. Continue to retract the lower cylinders for 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Move the joystick to raise and lower the arms, making sure both arms move together.
  4. If the arms move together, rephasing is complete.
  5. If the arms do not move together, repeat steps 1 -3. If the passenger arm gets to the rear rest before the driver's side, the seals need to be replaced in the driver's side cylinder. Order a Seal Replacement Kit.

A: How do I replace a tarp?

Option 1

Extend tarp out to working height at rear. Unwind remainder of tarp and lock roller in place (a wrench for this job can be purchased from O'Brian). Replace tarp, remove wrench and ease excess fabric back onto roller. Remove wrench and ease excess fabric back onto roller.

Option 2

Spread out tarp on ground with folded edges on Bottom side.

Lay Spool on TOP of TARP PER DIAGRAM. Find SEAM LINE on SPOOL to LINE UP TARP on or use existing holes. Use #10 or # 12 Tek screws and tarp clamp to fasten tarp to spool.

Note: End stenciled with PASS SIDE goes on RIGHT SIDE per diagram.

Now, roll tarp onto Spool from Left to Right.

Lay the Spool Assembly into the Cradle, with the end marked PASS SIDE on the PASSENGER SIDE. The sleeve in the cover should hang down on rearward side of cradle. The tarp should come off the top and hang down on the rear side of the roller and hang down rear side of cradle. Slide the 1 1/4" pipe thru the sleeve and fasten to the cradle.

PRETENSION SPOOL

Slide Driver's Side Arm onto the 1" spool shaft. Use the provided WRENCH on 1" shaft on Passenger side to pretension spring. Turn 10-12 REVOLUTIONS CLOCKWISE. Then turn forward to align the holes on shaft and arm, on DRIVER'S SIDE. Bolt together, using 5/16" bolt. Then remove wrench and bolt shaft on Passenger side.

NOTE: IF INSTALLATION IS NOT DONE CORRECTLY, THE SPRING WILL WARP AND WILL NOT CONTINUE TO OPERATE.
